The week of October 10
Well I’m past the halfway point of being here. That means I’ve been here for a little over two months and I have a little less than two months to go. At this point it seems like I’ve got a routine down and life is pretty comfortable and normal for the most part. I really like that I’m in that mindset now. And have been for a while honestly. I can’t say enough about how important routine is during the week. And the fact that I have lots of responsibilities while I’m here has been really great. Even though I’m about at the halfway point, school only has one more week to go! I can’t believe how short this semester is. I will be sad not to see my students again because it’s been really fun to work with them, especially the undergraduates, but I am kind of happy that I get to do other things now that the semester is winding down. And my plan for the rest of the time while I’m here is to take more drum lessons and more gyil (xylophone) lessons. I’m also hoping I’ll get to travel a bit more my friend who is supposed to visit me sometime in early November (shout out to Kelly C) and I really hope that works out! My friends Danelle and Scott are coming at the end of November. So those are two things that I’m really looking forward to. While I’ve been here, I’ve been doing mostly just day-to-day things as if I’m living here and I haven’t really been a lot doing a lot of touristy things. I really like that aspect and not being just a tourist. I like the fact that I feel like I am just another person living in Ghana and getting to experience the real Ghana life if that makes sense. Although I am looking forward to being a tourist. And spending some more time in Accra.
Here is just a happy pic of me at the beach (doing a bit of the tourist thing)
